|
|
Montreal,
QC, Canada - 10/27/06 - THE BILZ (DJ Vicious & Master-D) are always working
hard to break barriers in the music industry! Now it's here, 2 Step Bhangra
by THE BILZ ft. So-D & Kashif has officially been accepted for rotation on
mainstream radio. "It's always been a challenge! - DJ Vicious", who's been constantly knocking on the doors of Music Directors across Canada to support the South Asian Urban movement but he never stops. Now, Halifax's #1 Urban & Top40 radio station, THE BEAT 103.5FM, alongside Toronto's own Z103.5FM (Top 40 Hit Music Station) have accepted 2 Step Bhangra for rotation Monday to Friday at traffic jam hours. "They really loved the cross over feel of the joint - DJ Vicious" "This is a great step for us!" - Master-D since we've been working hard on every aspect of getting the song across to DJs from different communities and working close with Jay Gatzby from Komposit Entertainment. We are excited for THE BILZ for achieving this rotation and we hope to have all our fans and community to call in and support the constant rotation of 2Step Bhangra on radio so we can prove that South Asians can really make cross over urban materia

| REGGAE HITS VOL 37-VARIOUS ARTISTS(JSCD2087) |
|
|
Usually the Reggae Hits series stands head and shoulders above the
throng of reggae releases on the market. With Reggae Hits 37 we have
extended our lead in leaps and bounds. The dancehall anthems from Vegas,
Beenie Man and Shaggy have reached fever pitch. The sublime singers like
Beres Hammond, Maxi Priest and Don Campbell succeed in stroking your
very soul. However it is the majestic manner of the roots and reality
emperors that have stolen the march.Standing on the frontline here are
Tarrus Riley, Morgan Heritage and Sizzla. Who better to lead you into
the breach? Then we have added a bonus DVD of videos that few music channels air. Some are classic videos of well known and well loved artists. Some are videos of new artists whose career has just become airbourne. Finally there are videos for tracks that are on Reggae Hits 37 itself. This combination gives a true snap shot of what artists and tracks have bowled over the reggae listening public, and the ones that are destined to.

| GREGORY ISAACS BOX SET LOVE SONGS(CHAA3176) |
|
|
Gregory Isaacs' enduring popularity in Jamaica is due in no small part to the common man persona he projects, and the best of his songs (he is an underrated and extremely prolific songwriter), which generally chronicle the despair of a decent man devastated by the twists and turns of being in love, have at their heart a kind of wounded amazement at his state of affairs. Isaacs has dealt with political and cultural themes, as well, but his legacy will always be as the man who set up the template for lovers rock. This expansive three-disc set (it also contains a DVD of a live Isaacs club date) sets forth the evidence in the form of some 60 love songs, and what is amazing here is not that there are 60 songs (which is by no means anywhere close to every love song Isaacs has recorded), but that he manages to voice the same theme and story line time and time again and yet still make it seem fresh, real, and singular. Included here are key tracks like "Love Is Overdue," "My Only Lover," "Lonely Soldier," "Night Nurse," "My Number One," and the left-field "Just Because I'm Shy" which, taken together, seem to document every possible way that love can be suffered through. But Isaacs understands a fundamental point about falling in love. He understands that for all the pain being in love can bring, in the end it is about the hope that time it's the one, this time it works, and he puts all of that into his singing, and that's why the man is still a star.

| THE Illatraduction- ILLA BROWN (BOG0085) |
|
|
|
Illa Brown is no stranger to
grinding through the rainy streets of Vancouver Hip Hop. After being
introduced to Hip Hop through his b-boy cousin, Illa Brown began freestyling
and beat-boxing in the early 90's. Sharing the cement with homegrown hit
makers Prevail and Moka Only, his interest in music and it's messages
manifested itself into a passion, drive and reality. A man who is everywhere
at once, Illa Brown started making heads turn through the legendary Sound
Wars battles and guest spots on college radio (101.9FM The Show, 102.7FM
Beats to the Rhyme).Illa Brown has kept busy both in and out of the studio.
In 2005 he was a featured artist on DJ Kutcorner's release "MVP". Reliving
the success from their previous collabo, the single "Damn Right" went on to
stir up considerable buzz with daily spins on The BEAT 94.5FM radio show The
Traffic Jam. Between weekly residencies as MC and Host of Real Wednesdays at
Lucy Mae Brown and Get Some at Shine, Illa continues to be deeply entrenched
within the Hip Hop community. His latest solo effort The Illtraduction LP
hit the streets in 2006. "Red Apple," the flirtatious first single off the
album, features Juno nominated songstress Cory Lee, and has garnered radio
play across the country due to Bogueart Entertainment's association with
Hip-Joint promotions. The song also garnered a VideoFact grant and a high
quality video has been produced by Rugged Media, the newest member of the
Bogueart Entertainment team, which is sure to be well received

| romantic reggae box set vol 1-4- VARIOUS (CRCDB0761) | |
VV |
Romantic Reggae, Vol. 1-4 is a four-disc box set compilation of romantic modern roots reggae and smooth dancehall numbers drawn from the '80s and '90s gets less interesting as the sequence goes on, maybe because all of the singers here are more or less sounding the same themes and approaches, until one wishes for a little fire and brimstone, a little "down with Babylon" passion. True, these are love songs, and sometimes you need 'em, so if you want to forget Babylon for a moment and listen to stuff that goes over on the easy side, this makes for a nice, smooth listen, one that even manages to rise above blandness in spots. Each of the four discs is also available as a single album.

| NAH SELL OUT - TURBULENCE (CRCD3171) | |
![]() |
Turbulence, real name Sheldon Campbell, comes
from the Molynes Road area of Kingston, where he made his initial
reputation on sound-systems such as Exodus Nuclear, and Arrows. He was
originally known as Double Trouble before recording his earliest tunes for
Xterminator producer Fatis Burrell, who also discovered Turbulence's
biggest influence, fellow sing-jay Sizzla. Since recording his debut album
in 2000, this righteous chanter has voiced for a vast number of reggae
labels from all over the world, including Germany, France, Switzerland,
America, and of course his native Jamaica, where he's now regarded as
among the most cultural and gifted artists of his generation. It's hardly
surprising therefore, that he should come to the attention of Jamaican
radio DJ Richard "Richie B" Burgess, whose show on RJR is required
listening for all reggae dancehall fans on the island. Apart from
controlling the airwaves, Richie has his own label called Energy Beat,
which first made a splash with the Drop Top and Nipples rhythms of 2001.
Four years down the line and he's now a seasoned producer who knows
exactly what he's looking for and how to put it across. For these
sessions, he's picked the finest musicians available, including Sly &
Robbie's Taxi Gang, the Firehouse Crew, Mafia & Fluxy, Jazwad, Computer
Paul, and Don Corleon. Together with Nigel staff, the latter plays on
Don't Waste My Time, which captures Turbulence in an infectious dancehall
setting. The uncompromising Child Of Melchizadek, Rasta, and uplifting
Brighter Day are bashment selections too, whilst Feeling Da Vibe and Nah
Sell Out both introduce elements of hip-hop and R&B to the mix.
